V-twin command engines

What are some good ways to get more power out of a V-twin command without a lot of high performance parts? We aren't allowed many performance parts. We are allowed to bore .030 over and an open duration .245 lift cam and thats about it. Thanks for any help.

What Command are you starting with? 18hp? 20hp? 22hp? More?

What part of Illinois are you in.

We have an 18 horse engine and believe it does not have much done to it. Bought it as is. Just want to stay competitive on a budget. Would love to do a 25 horse engine, but trying to save up for that. We are allowed 4250 rpm's, front flywheel, .030 over bore and the cam mentioned above. No other performance enhancing parts. I am located in Marshall.

You can gain about 4 easy hp modding the carb throttle stop or exchanging it out....Do a search on here there are a few topics on that same issue....

Thanks i'll look into this. Does anyone know the cam specs. on the 18hp the 27hp camshafts? I heard there may be a little bit of power with a 27hp cam also.

Not sure how far you are from Wyoming, Illinois but, there is a man there that can make it run. I would highly recommend him if you have the $$$ to spend. If you want his information send me a PM.

they like allot of compression and timing

Are you allowed to run a box that controls timing or is that a performance part?

Dano73 04-04-2016 10:56 PM

The box is not allowed. Cannot run adjustable flywheels either. We can run velocity stacks. Is that any help at 4250 rpm's? I want to thank you all for the replies and we will check into all suggestions.
