Yeah sounds lean to me still John. Buy the 18 dollar chinesium carb and chrow da walbro in da gahbadge. Those walbro issues aggravate me.

Checked the plastic linkage bushings, they don't seem excessively sloppy and are securely in the holes, so I don't think that is the issue. I do need to order some spares though as I have 3 of these machines running now and not a spare of these parts on the place should one break or I drop one.

The guy at Isavetractors has the only carb I saw listed with 2 choke shafts. All the others appear to have the wrong shaft. Anybody know if the one out of my carb will swap with the Chineese replacements?

Hi John:

I had the same problem with my nonadjustable Walbro.

You can't use the choke lever out of your old carb and use the new choke plate because the holes for securing it (the plate) on the lever shaft are not in the same location as the new one. When I tried using my old choke lever and choke plate in the new isavetractors carb, it (the plate) did not seat correctly inside the carb. (Do they fit inside - yes. Is it a good solution? No, it's a crappy option because the old plate in the new carb binds and leaves gaps around the plate edges and the walls of the new carb.) You really are forced to use the new choke lever with the new choke plate. I did and my KT17-2 in my 682 runs much better because you can now adjust it....and everything is nice and tight in the new carb.

Below is the new isavetractors carb (the one you need) with my old choke lever and plate installed - and the choke never worked correctly. Norman at isavetractors now carries the choke lever in the "upward position" which is the correct lever for our application - which he did not have when I purchased the carb last year. I have since received the new upward lever (free with $5/shipping), installed it and the choke now operates perfectly.

Hope this helps.

Update time. I didn't like the fact that the China carbs appeared to have the wrong choke lever, and I found some bad reviews on them. So I rolled the dice on a $30 used adjustable jet carb off Ebay. Its been here for 2 months, just haven't had time to do anything with it. Opened it up today, used steel wool to remove old fuel residue, carb cleaner and air hosed it clean. Put it back together with the same needle and gaskets. Darn thing runs perfect.:bash2: Opened both screw about 1.25 revolutions. Probably opened the main about twice that before it ran smooth and didn't surge/labor. Then tweaked the idle. I swear this is one of the better running Cadets I have. Still need to order a fuel pump (winter job). Used the Cadet to spray about 5-10 gallons of Roundup this afternoon. Absolutely amazing how good this thing is running. More to spray tomorrow. Best part is my better half did the driving for me so I could handle the spraying---and she approves of the Cadet!
