How much are in the sleds?
Im going to be pulling with a 1250 cub cadet and i'm going to be in the 950 1150 classes how much weight do they put in the sled so i have a basic idea how much i have to pull?
|
that's a pretty loaded question . depends on allot of things about the way the sled is built and used. but typically they weigh between 5 and 8000lbs.
|
As a note.... You may or may not be aware, that the sled runs on the ground. Hooking up to say a pickup and dragging it around isn't a good test.
Your planning on pulling with a 1250? The one you just built? |
yeah im going to pull with the one i just built 5 to 8000 pounds thats alot
|
Gear drives work best for pulling, not hydro's.
|
Yeah i know
|
I'd quit while your ahead. You didn't set it up for pulling either.
But, hey, it's your tractor do with it what you want! |
I puller a 1 ton tractor yesterday no problem i pulled it idling so full throttle i should be able to pull the cart shoulds the key word

Where did you find a 1 ton tractor? That would be a pretty small tractor. A ton is 2000#. The sled weighs 5000-8000# go find 3 more tractors and hook them together. Then, set the brakes on at least one and pull it. This isn't the "big boys", it's the class you would be in. Note: All tractors are gear drives in the vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJfEso89swM |
Ive been to a tractor pull before i just never had a tractor to participate in one. and i know that the sled doesn't roll and the tractor i was pulling was a wheel horse with a plow. It had no back wheels and i needed to move it a few feet so i dragged it until the transmission of it dug into the dirt then the tractor just sat and spun the tires. tires weren't aired down and i had no weights and the grass and dirt were wet.
