Rural Kansas City new guy with 106

Howdy folks, name's Ryan and I hail from a rural town outside of Kansas City Missouri.

I am no stranger to Cub Cadets. I am however new to working on them. Growing up my grandpa had 4 cubs, 100/102/102/104. We used to ride them around the farm from dusk till dawn, into fences and occasionally into the pond ... Before we moved back to Mizzoura he sold off all but the original cub he started with, which he then gave to my older brother before he passed away. My brother won't give it up and I don't blame him, so I went out and bought my own.

I found a 1970 Cub 106 in great condition with the original 42" mowing deck this past weekend on CL. Instead of the 10hp Kohler it has a 12hp Kohler.

It mowed great on Saturday and when I parked it in the garage everything was fine. Went to take my 4yr old son for a ride and there's an issue with the clutch. You press it down and try to put in gear and it grinds. Clutch won't engage to stop the drive shaft from spinning. Like I said I am new to working on them so I have no idea where to begin. I tried adjusting the clutch per the manual and it didn't make a difference either way I adjusted it.

Harrisonville checking in here. Welcome to OCC!!

Lock the parking brake and see if clutch plates are loose. You should be able to jiggle them a little bit, if not, they are not releasing. Could be several things.

Feel free to send me a pm if you need.

Welcome to OCC. Had a very dear friend who was from the Lees Summit area, we spent some thrilling and chilling times together in 1969.
