3 point hitch build

1 Attachment(s)
Yesterday was a busy day in Cub Land. Was able to cut most parts out and drilled many to build 2, 3 point hitches. One for my 1711 and the other for my 782/4.

Another 15-20 holes to drill tonight.

Then onto welding!

 Keep the pictures coming and did you make the lift bar.

Yes I made the lift bar. I made the hitch from my 1512. That took a lot of adjustment/ bend/ test fit. This time I just copied the bar that was working in my 1512.

Everything drilled. Started welding parts up.

Completed one side of the lift arms. Took some time to build a jig to have the correct spacing and alignment. Then welded some washers onto the side plates. Progress ended when I ran out of welding wire.

What kind of welder are you using? Are you running flux core wire? :bigthink:

I am running a lincolin weld-pak 100 (120 volt) wire feed welder with flux core wire.

Spent some time welding today. Top picture is with the plates tacked together.

Lower picture has plates welded together right before i welded outer arms on. The outer arms are now welded but I still have to weld inner arms on. Ran out of time. Had to load the 1512 and York rake up so I can rake out the little league inner field tonight. More time on the Cub!

Looking good!

Hey...... before you spend a bunch of time, a flux core wire isn't going to penetrate deep enough to be able to hold the lift lever (crank arm) to that rockshaft. You will break the weld. Your welder isn't large enough. Sorry man.... it's just not going to hold. Oh, it may for a while, but it will break.
