Weight

How much weight are you running on you GT with a snow blower on it? I have chains and a QA42 and about 60lbs on the rear. I still have traction problems.

I don't think 60lbs is nearly enough... For my snow blade I'm running about 350lbs of weight then myself...

Last winter I had 150lbs on my 106 in addition to my 160 and chains and it had enough traction to push my Qa36a through 2ft of snow. With a 42 inch thrower you will probably want to add more than that seeing as the 42 inch thrower is going to be heavier than the 36.

I am running 9 gallons (each) of windshield washer fluid in 26x12x12 tru-powers, which put's them at roughly 100lbs'ish each, no chains. I have no traction issues when I drive it right..

60lbs total weight is a bit too light, adding washer fluid is cheap and easy. Just remove rears, and lay them on thier side. Let all the air out, PARTIALLY break the bead on the up side and pour in. Re-set the bead and fill to pressure..

28 gallons of fluid all together at 7.6 LBS per gallon.
The cub plastic rear weights at 80lbs each
6 40 lbs suitcase weights on the cat o
my self at 350 lbs
and 2 link chains

all on a 2072 with a 45" two stage blower

I figure it at some were in the 2000lbs all together

over kill but have never been stuck moving snow

This is the set up I use to blow/throw snow:

There is no extra weight in or on the tires. Tractor has 10.50 turf tires and 2 link chains. Tractor has a manual trans (only 500 to 600 units made). Snow thrower is 44 inches wide. Tractor was new in 1996.

My blade tractor:

Rear tires are 23-8.50-12 ags that are loaded with fluid. Wheel weights are from a green tractor. Paid $35 for the set.

Once in awhile I have a traction problem.....usually on ice.

as for my drive, i dont care if you have ag's or not....if you cant bite the ice you are going no-where.

On my 1812 I have 4 link chains and 80pounds of weight in the rear that are blocks. It goes great and i have the tires at 10 pounds in each tire. It is now pushing snow.

We got 4 inches offically, but had some 1 and 2 ft drifts. I had the 1450 and 54" blade with 70# weights per wheel and my 214 lbs + 4 link V bar chains. I spun a lot trying to go up the neighbor's driveway with the blade down. Seams I spun a lot in reverse. I'm going to change to the 42" blade for the next one if I can't use the QA36A.
