Grrrrr

Got my 784 out late yesterday afternoon to clear the driveway from the 6+" of snow we got.

Made a pass to the end of the driveway and pushed the "buildup" across the road, to pile it there. Backed up a few times and widened the path. I decided to go from a straight push on the blade, to an angled push. Did so. Went to get back on the tractor and it sounded like something is hitting the Tunnel Cover. Shut the engine down, grabbed some tools and went back to remove the tunnel cover. Lo and Behold, both Flex Disc Couplers on the rear end of the drive shaft, are shredded and broken, along with the cooling fan. A quick examination found "apparently", no other issues.

Got the Service Van out and a tow rope and gently dragged the tractor backwards until I could get it near the Car Garage. Then I shoveled and "bulled" the tractor inside. By that time I done all that, this old carcass was all farted out.

Now today, the repairs begin. Hope my local dealer have the new Flex Disc Couplers.

Well that sucks.

Sorry to read that. Frustrating, so say the least.

Always seems to happen at the most inconvenient time !:beerchug:

Sorry to hear that. Those discs never give up when the tractor is at a handy place to work on it!

Went to the local Cub Cadet Dealer this morning. He had one of the needed two. So, I am going to try & patch it up with one, until the second one arrives. :bash2:

Having three or four Cubs with flex discs in their driveshafts, I've taken to keeping a couple good used one in stock - just in case.
Sorry to hear you're having trouble Roland. At least it wasn't major damage.

Frustrating!
My 782 decided to stop running saturday after I shut the PTO off and put it at low idle so I could get off and clear some sloppy slushy stuff from the chute. Couldn't get it restarted. Pushed it back to the garage (fortunately downhill) and let it sit for a while. Got it going again after putting a little gas down the carb and ran great after that. Had been starting hard when it was super cold out, but I just chalked that up to the weather.

Went to start it on Sunday and it was being a pain. On a hunch, I filled the gas tank (was about half full) and it fired right up. Guessing a new fuel pump is in my future for that guy.

I am reminded of the post that Todd Zippel (Zippy1) had last year and the tangled up mess he had. Yes, I am thankful mine wasn't to that extent. :Bowdown2:

That is another part of getting older, I could have sworn that I had a couple of those Disc's stashed away. I either forgot that I used them or forgot where I stored them. :bash2:

If you weren't on the other side of the state I'd say come on over... I've got a couple laying around... I'm in the process of converting from a flex disc to the CV style shaft on my 1772.

I hear all the problems... I blew a head gasket on my B48 G Onan in my Snow blowing machine 982... I haven't heard of many folks having this issue but now off comes the blower and cab... :crap: I'm getting to old for this! :bash2:
