Cub cadet 1200 Pre-production??
I picked up a Cub Cadet 1200 just a few days ago in a lot of Cub Cadet tractors and stuff. The guy I got it from, says that the 1200 is pre-production and was given to a IH engineer who worked on it. That is who his family got it from. Does anyone know if this was something IH did or if there is anyway to prove it. What I can tell you is it is tag-less but the frame was drilled for it. I see no tag of the rear end but there are some casting number any help or would be great.
thanks |

Not sure how to add pictures, I tried we will see if it works.I just wondered if there is tell like all pre-production with have blank or if this was just a story and i have a tag-less 1200 lol |
With no Model/Serial tag, I think someone told you a good story.

I don't recall ever reading about a preproduction. Seems like there were three types of mufflers used on the Quiet Line. I had thought that the early models had a short exhaust tip that actually was behind the improved metal grill screen. As the story went, the Quiet Line was the result of an improved Wide Frame series, and more notably, the "new" federal regulation requirements of the time.
Might be someone needed a 1200 i.d tag for a restoration, and removed it from this tractor. I collect i.d tags, and that don't mean I stole any garden tractors, lol! The 1200 pictured looks nice! |
Looks like you got a great tractor, with headlights!
Good deal..:beerchug: p.s. latch that side panel in at the bottom. |

Here's a tip.....
Does the wire harness to the engine go THROUGH the firewall, or up from along the frame? Early ones do not go through the firewall. Does it have an aluminum grill frame or an aluminum one? The later ones have aluminum grill frames. The are observations I have mad over the last few years w/my QL's and others as well. |
