122 PTO Clutch Questions

Just rebuilt the PTO clutch on the 122, following the Service Manual instructions and advice found on this site.

Adjusted the clutch, using the proper gauge, however, it seems that 1 of the screws that hold the throwout lever is looser than the others, although all of the locknuts are properly torqued and the same amount of threads protrude throught the nuts.

Installed a new locking collar and bearing, making sure that the bearing was flush with the end of the crankshaft. Tightened the locking collar and bearing and installed the PTO clutch, aligning the set scew holes of the clutch pulley with the slots of the drive hub. Installed the anti-rattle springs and slid the clutch the rest of the way onto the bearing. Installed the 6 set screw into the holes of the clutch and torqued to spec.

Used the clutch, but broke the fiber wear button, so I had to tear down to repair. Found the the clutch set screw holes were no longer alighned with the slots of the drive hub.

Can anyone tell me what has gone wrong? Is this normal, or am I missing something? What is the principal of how this clutch works?

Any help would be appreciated, cause I GOT to get this thing running, the grass is getting out of control.

Thanks
GEL

Disengaging the pto puts it in freewheeling mode. The pto basket turns with the motor and the pto clutch remains stationary. You can line up the holes by Pulling off the spark plug wire, engaging the pto and turn the pto basket by hand and the holes can be lined up .
