Front Dozer Blades for an 1811

Can I convert a NF blade to WF for my 1811? A local guy has a rusty NF blade with tire chains for $125. I would think the mounting brackets could be swapped but I haven't seen a cub blade up close.

Another guy has 3 rusty WF blades but he wants $300. I could ask him to clean one up for me and see if he will take my unused MTD blade as partial payment.

This guy here has a runner with a plow and deck for $250. Is a 1050 a WF?

Any good advice for a newbie?

Yes, go start your own thread..... On another guys thread that has nothing to do with your question, is not the place to ask.

The blades themselves are all the same, but you’ll need a different subframe for narrow vs wide frame. It’s a bit of a pain to do, but a properly sized 2x4 and a hammer will get the blaze separated from the subframe. You’ll also need a different lift rod. They aren’t hard to fabricate, but it does take some work.

A 1050 is a wide frame.

If you have a hydraulic angle blade that has functional hydraulics and you don’t intend to use it, you should sell it to someone. Those are fairly well sought after. I’m sure someone would make you a good deal. Blades with subframes around here go from 50-100 bucks. Hydraulic angle ones I’ve seen go from 150-200 depending on size and condition.

Since someone jumped in anyway, I moved your question to your own thread for you.

Yes, you can convert a NF blade to a WF by changing subframes. But you have to find the subframe, which is usually attached to a blade..... so, it's just easier to find what you want to begin with.

On another note, that 1050 is one hell of deal!! I'd jump all over it!

I run an 1811 and a 1050. Great combination of tractors!

That 1050 is well worth the money.

I didn't hear from the guy with the 1050 in time.

I bought a 42" blade from the cub yard but I should have waited for one in better shape.

The lift bracket hits the WF. Yard owner says he'll send me another bracket.

Also the PO hacked off the end of the pivot shaft on the pivot bracket. I need to weld that up so I can get a cotter pin through it. Maybe PO thought it would be easier to install but I'm sure it would pop loose the way it is.

The skid shoes are rusted away and seized in the weld-bolts. I soaked them with PB so I'll look for replacements. I'm on black top so I may get a heavy rubber scraper strip too.

And the whole thing was pretty damn rusty but I tdidn't want to wait for snow to get this rig set up. Next time I'll know better what to look for. .

Not sure why pics rotated.

I just ordered a WF blade lift bracket for my 1811 so I won't be needing this one. It has two bends in it and the top is so high it hits my frame, I assume it's a NF bracket but I can find any drawings of it. Does anyone know the part number or where I can find the exploded diagram? I'll add it to the classifieds once I have a part number.

There are 3 brackets that I know of for that blade. That is not one of the 3. That same blade (with a different mount) was used on some lawn tractors. Perhaps that is a lift for a LT. But it is not like any used on the GT's.

Check the for sale section here on OCC for blade shoes. A member is offering thick shoes for a good $. I have similar thick shoes that have held up over many winters.
