Cub 127 Hydrostatic Issue
 

Hello all,

I recently added a Cub 127 to my growing fleet. The tractor ran fine the first couple of times I used it. The only issue I had is that it wanted to creep when in neutral.

I didn't want the tractor to start creeping when I turned it on, so I flipped the tow valve up first. After starting the tractor I put the valve back down. My problem is that the valve did not engage the hydrostatic. I am now stuck, unable to move the selector out of neutral.

Is this a common problem? Am I overlooking something simple? I did a quick search and didn't find much on the issue.

Is the brake on? The lever won't move with the brake on.

IF.....everything is original to the Tractor, then it should have the Check (or Relief) valve as seen on the right.

The possibility exists that if the "plunger" is stuck in the down position, you would experience what you are having.

You can use some penetrate (ie: PB Blaster, Kroil, etc) and spray the plunger area. Make sure the plunger moves "freely".

Just curious how the check valve's would effect the lever in the dash moving?

I was assuming he was referring to the handle on the Tunnel Cover. :bigeyes:

I believe he was but the valve's wouldn't stop the dash lever from moving, at least I don't think they would. It almost has to be the brake on or something came apart in the linkage.

That's correct, the dash lever won't move. It is stuck in neutral.
Someone definitely has messed around with the brakes. So much so, in fact, that they don't work. There is no resistance when pressing the pedal. However, the lever was returning to neutral when depressing the pedal prior to the issue occurring.

I assumed it was a valve issue, because when I engaged the valve previously the hydro static would start to whine - indicating that it was working. It doesn't make any noise now, whether the valve is up or down.

I'll take a look at the linkage, and report back.

Look under the tractor to see if a linkage came off.

Pull the pedal towards the rear. Then move the lever while holding the pedal.Might not be returning for enough to let go of the dash handle

Inside the rear fender on left side there is a round port in the sheet metal.
Looking in there you will see some of the tranny linkage. While wiggling hydro handle you might find d a need to stick a big screwdriver in there to free the worn parts that have decided to "catch".
The same worn parts are the reason for the creeping problem.
