Engine question 14hp briggs

Is the lifter / cam follower crushable ?
Like made out of soft metal on B &S mod#
287-707 vert shaft
I have a old 14 -42 rider it quit years ago no compression ,Pulling the valve cover I have good compression but the exhaust valve adjust will mot take up the play , any one had this ? Push rod is ok ,valves work ok
I am thinking of putting this motor out front of mt 128 to make 4wd ....see now its a cub cadet ?

how do you know the valves work ? valve seat fall out? some Briggs engines have plastic lobes on the cam.

It does have good compression ,seals up nicely
Maybe a slow valve at first from years of sitting
Rockers are good , possibly I switched the pushrods back then and they are different, but yeah, if a seat moved that would do it
