Onan engine from 2145 to a 2155
 

I am needing to know if the 14hp engine out of my 2145 will work in a 2155 with a 16hp Kohler? The 2145 has a bad trans and the 2155 has a bad engine.

Both are the same frame, so engine mounting plate is the same. You will have to take the muffler and driveshaft from the 2145 to the 2155. Choke and throttle controls show different part numbers, so there is likely a different cable length to contend with. Might be lucky that the longer one is on the 2155.... if not, then that will be an issue.

All in all, it looks like there could be issues. I just checked the main ones. Probably best to park them side by side, pull the hoods and side panels and compare. I am going to doubt anyone on here has done the swap. (Someone could surprise me though.) Onan engines aren't the better between the two.

Why not change the transmission from the 2155 into the 2145 ?? It would be easier than changing cables, wiring, etc.

dale c thanks for the reply. I do not know enough about these mowers to know what will fit what. I wound buying a 1018 CC at a estate sale so I would have something to mow the grass. I still would like to get the 2145 going again because I thank it a better machine.
