Muffler

The 1210 I just bought, has a broken muffler inlet, and, somebody has messed with it before. Rather than try to patch it up, I started searching for mufflers, and found the following.

Walker 22020. Tractor muffler. 12.5 length overall, 1 3/8 inside diameter inlet, 1 3/8 outside diameter outlet. 5 inch diameter. Took one home, and looks identical to the one in the tractor and the one in the 1450. Quick test fit and looks almost perfect. May have to expand the inlet a tiny fraction, and I mean tiny, and will have to put an extension on outlet. Even the bracket is on it, and lines up perfectly.

While searching I also found Walker 22022, which looks identical to the muffler on my 109.

Both are fairly easy to get my hands on and substantially cheaper than I could find at any dealer.

Thought this may be of interest to some others.

Mods, you may want to move this post, I wasn't sure where to place it.

Will do Roland. Probably over weekend.

I mounted the Walker 22020 on my 1210 yesterday. Fit is pretty good. Had to slightly expand inlet pipe. Easy not a big deal. Bracket lines up perfect. The only issue was the outlet. Getting it outside the grill was a bit of a task. Needs an extension. In this tractor did not line up quite right, but other models may be none issue.

Sorry about pic quality, best I can do with cheapo cell phone.

I would definitely use one again.

How quiet is it?

rmunro 02-20-2013 05:47 AM

Not much quieter than the one I replaced. Of course, I've no idea if it was OEM or aftermarket. It does have less bark than my 109, but that is to be expected just in the styling.

In short, if that is your goal, just to make it quieter, it would be a waste of time and money.

My 147 isn't loud, but not quiet. I wear earplugs, and only run it at reasonable times so the neighbors won't hate me too much. :beerchug:

I put a 20 degree elbow on my 109, so it points a bit forward as well as to the right. Didn't help the neighbors much, but did me!!!!

The QL point to the front anyway. I found this new one maybe has a little less bark sound.
