Generator Output

I have one of those old Delco generators hanging off the side of the Kohler engine on my CC 128, and was wondering how many amps they put out. Looking to buy a different ammeter, as a) I lost the old IH one and b)'0' was leaning to the right, so who knows what charging or discharging is. Thanks!

a 20 amp meter will be just fine. If you can get a generator to charge 10 amps you're doing good, so a 20 amp gauge will be plenty.

The Delco-Remy Starter/Generators that were built for Cubs were rated at 15 Amps. Any Amp gauge would have to be a minimum of that value.

I'll assume the oem IH ammeters are 20 amp units then? center is 0, first line is 10amp, second line is 20 amp. Not the most precise gauges, but they let me know if it's charging or not at a glance.

Just need to find a good one, mine's stuck at ~4 amps "charging" all the time. Maybe I'll pick up a quality generic (faria).
